Summer activities for the kids

I know that summer is long gone and that I'm now into my third week of the Fall semester, but there's just a long lag of blog posts that I need to do. It was a fantastic summer here in Chicago. I was kept very busy learning a great new language and the kids and May Yen got to experience the richness of the summer period here in Chicago. For all the aussie readers out there (I've checked the logs, most … but not all of you are in Australia), summer is a weird phenomenon here. Firstly, kids have something like 3 months off school! Then everyone is enrolled into summer camps. But these camps aren't camps. They are just … mmm … summer day programs, the bulk of which is just fun, sports or arts. The picture above is Rachel showing some of her artwork at her Art Summer Camp. Nicky did Sports summer camp and then Tennis camp.

On top of camp, our kids have been practising piano. They have really improved heaps while they have been here and I'm so thankful that we have had a digital weighted piano "lent" to us by a friend we just met. This allows both Rachel and Nicky to take lessons and practice. Wonder if the worship team at home could use a few more budding pianists ;)

Also, Rachel has started learning how to cook from May Yen. Already she's a way better cook than her dad! (I think that's the start of an omelette).

And what has Gracie been up to? I think this picture summarises it well … as she's just been smiling heaps, enjoying life and working on being cheeky enough to get out of trouble!

Ok. time to put these lovely kids to bed. I'll blog more later.
